Alumni Update: Annie Sparrow (MHCE 4, MHCE Lecturer)

Syria Deeply, a news site dedicated to informing the public about the ongoing situation in Syria, has recently published an interview with Dr. Annie Sparrow (MHCE 4 and lecturer on subsequent MHCE courses). The interview, titled “Syria’s Descent into a Public Health Nightmare” chronicles the demise of Syria’s public health system. Formerly supporting one of the best-developed public health systems in the Arab world, Syria now faces dire shortages in clean water, vital medications, and doctors. Dr. Sparrow, currently a pediatrician at New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital, has extensive field experience in Syria and the surrounding region and provides an insightful, complete picture of the health crisis happening inside Syria.
